In the wake of The Taking of Gabriela Robin, the space pirate Red Eyes ordered the production of a series of original designs to follow the rollout of the Goblin and Hobgoblin classes. Making good on the promise of the prototype testbed model Anakim, the final production model began rolling out later in 3001 A.D. as the pirate oversaw repairs to the fortress Hell's Heart and put forth a call for other pirates and rogues to rally to his banner.
Dubbed "Enkidu", Red Eyes presented the first of the class to the man who now became his chief subordinate: Dashing Jack, captain of the battleship Redalen's Revenge. The lavish ceremony served as effective propaganda to rally those rogues, pirates, rebels, and heretics heretofore reluctant to heed the blue-skinned would-be warlord. They saw that the power he possessed before launching the assault on New Edinburgh not only still existed, but actually increased despite losing his sister and much of the fleet deployed in combat.
Red Eyes boasted that each Enkidu was a hand-crafted masterwork, and he was not wrong. The model, like Anakim, would easily be mistaken for a statue depicting a Bronze Age warrior in his prime when not in use. This means that it has almost no fixed armaments as standard, but instead is intended to be customized by its user for maximum performance. Enkidu, from conception, is a model for Red Eyes's aces to use when leading his armada into battle.
Dashing Jack had his unit--recorded as the "Jack Custom"--painted to resemble his lost Black Knight, black with red highlights and a glossy finish. He preferred quick-detach ordinance on the unit's hardpoints, a shield in the off-hand and either a beam rifle or a missile launcher in the main hand (the other on its back or on the skirt). He also tuned his unit to play to his preferred high-speed style of combat, hitting hard and fading fast, leave only charred remains in his wake.
Its first encounter against the sort of units it was meant to counter came that same year, during the daring Raid on Terra, where Dashing Jack rematched against Lord Roland- the latter again in Durandal. It would prove up to the task, but not the crushing counter Red Eyes had hoped. However, others weren't so dismayed and soon Red Eyes found aces willing to bend the knee in return for receiving an Endiku of their own.
