Technical and Historical Notes

This is the transformable version of the Destrier. Its limited production is due to its use being restricted to elite units of the Vatican Solar Guard, especially the Star Knights. This is a blend of the aforementioned motorcycle and a commonly-seen powered armor for use in urban environments, the Dragoon, produced by the Shipwright's Guild for the Guard to assist in perimeter defense and civil patrols. With the aide of power specialists from Aramaki Power Works, these two collaborated on a commission originally issued for the Guard in 2930. The Mk.I model arrived in the hands of the Star Knights two years later.

Since that time, the Cavalier expanded its use to a few specialized Guard units that needed this versatility, but most sightings remain those operated by a Star Knight or one of his retinue. Now in the Mk. IV iteration, introduced in 2995, its cost continues to be the factor that keeps its production limited and thus deployment restricted; talk of a Mk.V model ended due to this concern in favor of redesigning both the Destrier and the Dragoon to work as a complimentary platform in a manner depicted in several of the pre-Cataclysm archive entries, a move several domains in Galactic Christendom adopted long ago.

Because these are so few in number, and intended for elite operators, the design is reconfigurable to a much higher degree. Few standard armaments are present; instead, the design allows for its elite users to change the loadout as circumstances and user preference dictate. The rear wheels still being usable in Armor Mode permit speedy ground travel when air travel is inadvisable for whatever reason, while the front wheels being able to double as vernier thrusters mounted about the shoulders in Armor Mode make it able to fly, albeit more like a low-altitude VTOL craft than anything else- including hover capability.

When the Red Eyes Armada moves to attempt a second abduction of Countess Gabriela Robin on Earth, Lord Roland responds in his personal Cavalier unit to assist the Knights Hospitallar giving chase. As the Matter of the Milky Way took shape, sightings of this rare unit would increase along with its deployments.
